The Orihuela Department of Tourism has announced a number of new tourist routes for this spring, which will take place during coming weekends until 17th June.
In presenting the new routes Councilor Sofía Álvarez said that the routes would allow tourists who are arranging to visit the municipality to better plan their visits.
She said that there will be a total of nine routes which can be enjoyed in Spanish and English, and will be cantered on the monumental and historical heritage of the region, as well as the poet Miguel Hernández and the Oriolan coastline.
They will start this coming Saturday, April 7 from 11.00 with a Cultural Walk, which will tour the national monuments of the municipality, continuing on Sunday, April 8, with the first Maritime Walks along the Orihuela Costa, departing from Punta Prima.
The guided tour to the San Isidro Murals will take place on Saturday, April 21, while the following week, on Saturday, April 28, the Hernandiano Tour will be held, which will cover the most important points of Miguel Hernández’s life in his native city.
The month of May will see two new routes: a new Cultural Promenade and a second Route along the Maritime footpaths of the coast, this time with departure from Cabo Roig. The routes will take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6, respectively.
A Hernandian Tourist Walk is scheduled for the month of June, a Cultural Night Tour for Saturday June 16 and the first Nautical Route, which will be focused on marinas and activities that take place in the ports and yacht clubs of the Orihuela Costa on Sunday June 17. The two June routes will see the closure of the series of spring tourist routes.
For more information and reservations for any of these routes, those interested can contact the Tourist Information Office of Orihuela at 96 530 46 45 or 96 530 27 47, and the Tourist Information Office of Orihuela Costa, at the address email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 96 676 00 00 ext 32.
At the same press conference the councillor for tourism also made an assessment of the influx of tourists to the municipality during Holy Week, “which saw increased numbers, not only with the occupation of hotels and tourist apartments, reaching 95%, but also in the increase of visits to the Information and Tourism Offices of both Orihuela city and the coast”.
She said, “there has been an increase in the number of nationalities that have visited our tourist offices, monuments and other interesting sites in our municipality, rising in a year from 40 to 80 different nationalities that have visited Orihuela”.
Álvarez also pointed out that there has been a significant growth in the number of people interacting with the website and social networks of the Department of Tourism (www.orihuelaturistica.es/ ), “demonstrating how the municipality has confirmed its position as one of the great destinations for tourists that have an interest in Spanish culture.
