The Artistic Fusion of Myriam Jimenez comes to Mojácar

Mojacar’s Municipal Art Gallery, “La Fuente” is currently hosting an exhibition titled “Vela Blanca” by the Almerian artist Myriam Jiménez, in which she is showing a wide variety of her work until the end of August.

Myriam cleverly fuses photography and watercolour with wood in a refined, minimalistic style, integrating grain and image with delicate details.

Her workshop is in the family residence, Torre Vigia Vela Blanca, in Cabo de Gata, from where she soaks up inspiration for most of her work.  Over the last year, from this setting she has skilfully captured the unique nooks and crannies, flora and fauna as well as local people.  The grains of the wood reflect the hurricanes and sea’s waves that are all part of this Mediterranean corner, elected as one of the 25 most beautiful places in the world.

Mojácar’s Culture Councillor, Raquel Belmonte, was at the inauguration and, had the opportunity to discover more about the thirty distinctive pieces in the exhibition from the artist herself. Raquel was very taken by the originality and beauty of the paintings and is delighted that Mojácar Council through her Department has had the chance to put on this exhibition which shows, as she said, “a very current technique which fuses the best artistic trends in a superb way.”

The “La Fuente” Centro Municipal de Arte  can be found above the public fountain in Mojácar Pueblo, on the Cuesta de la Fuente and is open to the public (free of charge) on Tuesdays to Fridays from 10.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8.p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from       10.00 a.m. to 2 p.m.  It is, without doubt, a different way to pass away some holiday time in Mojácar and, an interesting cultural alternative to sun, sand and sea.
